An ex-stray cat keeps a watchful eye over her sole kitten, following him wherever he ventures.
Shauna, a dedicated and loving cat mother, along with her kitten Shane, found themselves at Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington D.C. after Shauna was rescued while in active labor. Despite only one kitten surviving the difficult birth, Susie H., a kind-hearted volunteer, offered to foster the pair in order to provide them with a safe and nurturing environment to heal and flourish.
During the first few weeks, Shauna struggled to produce milk for Shane. Determined to ensure the little kitten thrived, Susie took on the responsibility of feeding Shane around the clock with a bottle, while Shauna attentively supervised the process. Despite the challenges they faced, Susie described the experience as a mix of heartwarming and heartbreaking, as Shauna, despite her young age, tried her best to care for Shane. Together, as a team, they are dedicated to providing Shane with the love and care he needs to grow and thrive.
Lovely cat mom Shauna was cuddling with her little kitty Susie when she received some medicine for an upset stomach. The following morning, Susie was delighted to see her mom feeling better and taking care of her with lots of purrs and love.
Once Shauna was back on her feet, she didn’t waste any time in showering her adorable baby with attention, making sure she was clean and cozy from nose to tail.

As Shauna’s health improved in the following days, her maternal instincts kicked in full force. She would lovingly embrace her baby, surrounding him with warmth as he purred himself to sleep.
Susie from DC Foster Moms shared a heartwarming story of a cat mom affectionately wrapping her body around her kitten for cuddles. The cat mom had gained some healthy weight and transformed into a caring and attentive mother to her little one. Susie noted that the cat mom now regularly bathes her kitten, lets him suckle whenever he pleases, responds to his cries, and showers him with constant cuddles, only taking short breaks from the nest.
Mama Shauna is always on high alert, keeping a watchful eye on her little one, Shane. She never lets him out of her sight, always ready to swoop in and bring him back to safety if he strays too far. “Shauna is such a dedicated mom,” says foster mom Susie. “She lets me help with feeding Shane, but she’s never too far away, making sure everything is okay. And as soon as Shane lets out a little meow, Shauna is there to scoop him up and take him back to their cozy nest.”

Susie, a foster cat mom, lovingly nurtured her kitten by teaching him how to play with toys and encouraging him as he transitioned to eating from a plate independently. With Susie’s care and guidance, the kitten blossomed into a playful, affectionate, and inquisitive cat.
